Pastel Color Palettes with HEX Codes

Pastel palettes use high-lightness, lower-intensity colors that work well for surfaces, illustration, and soft brand expression. Because many pastel swatches sit close to white in luminance, they usually need much darker text and stronger control states than the palette alone suggests.

How to build with pastel palettes

Treat pastels primarily as backgrounds and decorative/support colors. Introduce a deep ink color for typography and, when necessary, a stronger action color so buttons and links do not disappear into pale surfaces.

Pastel UI

#FFC8DD#FFAFCC#BDE0FE#A2D2FF#CDB4DB

The pink/blue/lilac set is effective for panels, tags, or illustration blocks, but it lacks a dark text color. Pair it with a tested navy/charcoal when turning it into a full interface.

Soft Candy

#FADDE1#FFC4D6#BDE0FE#CDEAC0#FFF1A8

This set has several very light families for playful surfaces. Because the swatches are close in lightness, use labels or icons when they represent different categories.

Gentle Brand

#F2E9E4#C9ADA7#9A8C98#4A4E69#22223B

The deeper #4A4E69/#22223B additions make this palette more self-contained: the pale neutrals can be surfaces while the dark endpoint supports text and strong controls.

Assign colors to real roles

RolePractical direction
Soft surfacePastel fills for cards, chips, illustration areas, or sections.
InkA separate dark color for text and icons.
InteractiveA sufficiently distinct action color rather than pastel-on-white text.
Category colorPastels can label groups, but pair them with text/patterns when the distinction matters.

Good use cases

  • Lifestyle, education, or consumer brands using soft color without sacrificing text readability.
  • Illustration-heavy interfaces where large pastel fields support dark typography.
  • Charts or schedules where pastel categories are reinforced with labels and shapes.
